The British prime minister has died under mysterious circumstances. At his funeral all the leading heads of state of the Western world are invited. Of course, the President of the United States Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart) and Vice President Trumbull take (Morgan Freeman) part. They are accompanied by Asher's bodyguard, the Secret Service agents Mike Banning (Gerard Butler). Banning's protection is the President urgently need because unscrupulous terrorists want to use the funeral to get rid of the politicians present and to plunge the western world into chaos.
